Audiology

What is an Audiologist?
A Clinical Audiologist has earned a doctorate and/or masters degree in Audiology and has completed a year of residency in Audiology. The emphasis is on the sciences of hearing and balance. Coursework includes but is not limited to Anatomy and Physiology, Hearing Science, Speech Science, Neural Science, and coursework specific to Audiological Diagnostics, Auditory Rehabilitation, Hearing Aids, and to Speech and Language Development.

Audiologists are found in a variety of settings, including medical, university, private practice, and industrial. Some Audiologists will focus on particular specializations, such as working with cochlear implants.

What about at MIMA?

MIMA’s Audiology Department is comprised of two Audiologists and a superb support staff. Both Audiologists hold Doctorate Degrees in Audiology (AuD), and both have long history as members of the Melbourne Community. MIMA Audiology provides hearing testing, vestibular testing (balance), and hearing aids.

MIMA Audiologists are most closely affiliated and co-located with the MIMA ENT Department, but are integrated with all of your MIMA Doctors. This means that, test results and decisions related to your hearing status, balance, or hearing aids are part of your total patient care at MIMA.
